It is now a known fact world wide that certain herbs can do wonders if used appropriately. Certain herbs did not reach out worldwide previously but have more recently been known for their important qualities. One of them is garlic. It was used in some parts of Asia extensively and in many families it was found that the intake of garlic was very high. There have been many researches conducted on it and are still being conducted to explore more about the wonder herb.
Studies have proved that a garlic consumed a day can actually prevent cancer. It does only keep cancer at bay but is also useful for many other health problems. It was known in olden days to keep away common cold. Raw garlic is also used to treat acne related symptoms. It is a natural repellent for mosquitoes and is useful for keeping certain blood pressure related issues and heart issues in control. Flu to a certain extent can be prevented and cured by the appropriate intake of garlic.
However garlic is not all that good for all. There are certain people that have an irritation towards this wonder herb. A few people are allergic to garlic while some may not simply be able to tolerate the smell of it. Consumption of garlic in more proportion is not good for health and some may not be able to digest the amount. It may also have side effects in case it is consumed in more proportions. It affects the digestive track and in some acute cases it might create temperatures, headaches, skin rashes, etc.

Many celebrities have started getting six packs Abs and the trend is catching up soon with many others as well. Many have started to hit the gym for a flat tummy with six abs. Many think and advise others that a flat tummy line is a sign of a healthy body. They also say that the initial signs of obesity are visible when fats start collecting around the stomach. This is surely not true in all cases. In fact it has been proven that women have a tendency of fat being deposited in their body primarily around the hips and thighs. It is only later that the fat is deposited around the abdomen.
However it is always nice to have a flat tummy. Definitely only dieting cannot help obtain a flat and healthy stomach. Skipping meals and taking help from supplements or diet pills would not assist either. It is also said that the last place fat will start reducing from will be the stomach or the abdominal line. One needs to follow the right diet along with a proper exercise regime to obtain a healthy and flat tummy.
Some of the food items can be very useful while dieting and a few recipes also would help. Consuming green vegetables like spinach would do well surely. Other green vegetables should also be consumed on a regular basis. Dairy products that are low fat or fat free should also be used in food. Nuts like almonds should be consumed with their skins intact. Berries like raspberries and others should be consumed.

Majority of the overweight people have 80% of the fat on their tummy. Hence, when weight loss is to be obtained, the entire concentration should be focused on the tummy fat. Obesity is said to be an epidemic now a day, but the sentence needs a bit of revision. It should be said that the actual epidemic is tummy fat. There are people who possess fat on the legs and hands or distributed all over their bodies in an equal proportion, but most of the obese people today carry extra fat on the tummy rather than other parts of the body. Of course, it has a genuine reason. The life today is stressful, rushed and, hectic. Cooking on a daily basis has almost vanished, and even if it exists, it has nothing to do with actual cooking. It involves warming up of microwave meals, or going for instant preparations.
Today, convenience is given more importance than health and nutrition. That’s why fast foods are in great demand. This process saves a lot of time and effort, but gives way to tummy fat. Human body is an efficient and a smart machine. When it is fed with convenience and junk food, it does not get the required nutrition. It instead gets empty calories and too much of sugar. The body wants the person to keep going. Hence, it provides the tummy with extra fat, as legs and arms need to be kept active and tummy is the central part which is inactive. It can be avoided only by eating protein, vegetables and fruit and completely eliminating junk food from the diet. The doctor should be consulted regarding this change in diet.

McDonald’s has arrived in Italy! This led to the ‘Slow Food Movement’, which gained a lot of momentum in the US. This movement had a five point program: production of eco-friendly food and land stewardship, revival of table and kitchen as a means of community, culture, and pleasure, proliferations and invigoration of seasonal, regional culinary traditions, creation of a virtuous, ecologically-oriented, and collaborative globalization, and living a harmonius and slower life.
As stated above, the purpose of slow movement is to pay more attention to the work of eating; and thereby stop the belly and diabetes epidemic from spreading. The research regarding slow eating states that the “I’m full” signal reaches the brain within 15 minutes from one’s gut. So, logically, it proves the fact that fast eaters end up eating beyond their limits, and by the time they get into their senses, they have already gulped so much of food. The research also proves that people end up eating more when they try to concentrate on a number of things at a time, say- watching television, reading, or talking. A paper regarding this was presented by the researchers from Rode Island University titled ‘Eating rate and satiation’ at NAASO (Obesity Society) in 2006 meeting at Boston. According to them fast eaters gulped food 3.5 times more than the slow eaters. They thereby drew the conclusion that 90% of the fattest people consisted of fast eaters. It was also observed that Americans were the fastest eaters in the world.
